Really surprised that Dear created this blog to pen down all the preparation work he had done prior to the proposal. I cried twice while reading through the entries. He really put in alot of effort and time to plan all these things.
Anyway, just to update, I accepted the proposal and that we have been eagerly searching for hotel and bridal studio and attending shows since 12th March 2009.
Glad to announce that we have settle on the venue for the banquet. But yet the bridal studio. Have looked at many wedding bands and have zoomed in to a pair from Lee Hwa. But still deciding.

First Step..

The first weekend is to feel what wedding preparations should be. Went to Pan Pacific Wedding Fair and indeed, their balloon is impressive. It comes with a price. We like everything there but due to budget constraint, we have to 忍痛 and say no..
It's still a long way to the actual dinner and we agreed not to make any impulse decision. There's still many weekends full of wedding and bridal fairs..

Acceptance..
各位观众, thank you for all your support. I did it! Though not really up to plan but she still accept my proposal~
It's already 4pm and she didn't called. Odd.. It means that darling hasn't received the flowers. How come so long? The call came at 4.30pm. Oh, she went for excusion.. Duh~
It's really scorching in the noon, afraid that the car is too warm and will burst out all the balloons. I drove to turf city at about 5.30pm, trying to let the balloons have a long floating period. It was really hot in the car and the only way to cool the interior is to tune the air-con to the maximum. Luckily when I reached balloon r'us, it starts to rain.. Steady la.. Took 20 balloons with lots of eyes staring at me while I walked to the carpark. Weird. LOL.. But the next challenge is, how can I place all the balloons into the boot alone?? As it's still raining, I could see an ah ma waiting for his husband to collect the car. Funny thoughts~ "Auntie ar, can help me take the balloons while I collect the car?" Imagine 70 year old ah ma holding 20 heart shaped balloons? LOL.. Took some effort to put every balloon in but still manage to did it without bursting any.. Went straight to meet darling after that.
Had our sky dining meal in the cable car but darling don't seem to be enjoying. Sigh.. After the meal, the highlight of day starts.. Gotten an excuse to bring her to a new place, which is Henderson Wave. Parked the car by the side as planned and took a short walk in. At that time, there was no car around and I thought it won't be that malu at least. But to my disappointment, we just took a 5 mins walk and about to get to the car. 2 cars came. . Sianz.. I thought of stalling for time and luckily that 2 cars drove off within mins.. Now, the part comes.. I opened the boot and..... the 3rd car came. Wah lao! Di Di Xiao Xiao.. For the next 10 mins, 1 car came one after another.. Lu Geng Sianz.. I have to come out with an excuse that there's flying cockroach near the car to prevent us from leaving and thus stalling the time. Super lame! Finally when the 风声 not that tight, I quickly did the once-in-a-lifetime thing by man.. You can imagine the rest..
On the way back, darling told me something. She knew the plan all along!! Arrgh.. She saw my message weeks back about this plan.. Wah lao x2.. Sianz.. But nonetheless, darling still accepted the proposal..

Recee
Went recee-ing yesterday night to Mt Faber to check out my kneeling spot. Apparently, there are no good spots that can have a clear night view and stand by the car. While driving down, I saw a separate route up to the mountain and then I saw the way towards the Hort Park. A good view while parking illgeally. You have been chosen!
Went over to bloomsdale to check out flowers to be sent to her on her birthday.
I'm going to send this to surprise her in school!!

The Proposal Plan
Fats, Gang and I head down to Turf City to prepare for the proposal plan. Initially, I thought of holding it at the Padang, since it's the first place we met. Darling and I is suppose to walk down the Supreme Court stairs and suddenly 5 dudes(The usual bunch of course) appear from the pillar wearing my pre-drawn T-Shirts saying 嫁给我吧! At this moment, I will do the necessary drill but due to lack of manpower, the plan is rejected.
After much consideration such as Singapore Flyer (Too common), Hotel (Too splurgy), Surprise Party w/all her friends in Chalet (Wkdays, Friends not NA), In her school assembly (I will be STOMP right away), I decide to make it simple and sweet. I will send her, her once-in-a-lifetime 99 pink roses to her school in the morning (Not sure will she smell anything funny?) but that is to bring out the anticipation. Then bring her to our first anniversary dinner spot, the Sky Dining! After the dinner, a walk to the top of the mountain is inevitable. I will then open up the car boot pre-filled with helium balloons and when all starts floating up, I will do the drill with the last balloon tie with the ring. Simply but I believe its sweet.
Ok, back to the Turf City. If you google for balloon makers in Singapore, you probably will find only one that is located at TC. I need to find out how many balloons do I need and how long it will last. Most importantly, can it withstand the heat in the boot. There's only one way to find out. I gotten a few and stuff it in Fats car boot. While on the way to Orchard, one blown. 5 hours later, everything is fine. When we open up the boot, another is gone without waving goodbye to us. The rest was like 'not flyable'. I remember the ballon guy told me that it will last for max 4 hours outdoors so I believe he is right.
I will need to start the dinner at 7pm and finish by 9 in order to have the balloons is mint condition. Will need to get to TC by 6.30pm, pick up the balloons, stuff it in the car and fetch darling. This is my proposal plan.

It's Here...
Took a day off today to get the ring. Told darling that Siteh is giving us her birthday treat and she is mad at me for taking day off for the slightest reason. Nevertheless, I did that to get the ring. Let see how will she apologies to me once she sees this. LOL..
The first reaction from Fats was 'It's TL!(Tua Liap)' Perhaps its because I told them prior that I do not want to hear anything bad from their mouth simply because I spent a bomb on it.

In Search of the Box
The ring box that Josi provides really does not fancy me. I have to search for the right box then. Tried words of mouth, google. and adverts but none came results.
Just today while I was surfing one of the bridal forums, I saw someone posted the same question. The results gotten is a place in Shaw Centre. Very briefly mentioned. I drove down straight away to check the place out. After much Shellock Homes', I found a small store lying a corner. Indeed, there are a couple of designs around to choose from. Finally, I set my eyes on this pink classy case.
I thought it looks rather plain and decides to reminisce my art & craft 'skills'...
Intends to put sequins and LTS figurines on the top of the box. Went down to Sario at Suntec City but the sales girl told me that there are no such production. How can that be?? Anyway, I expanded my search to google and found something similar. The handphone strap. The figurie is tied to the strap and all I have to do is to detach that out and stick it on the box.
The figurines come separately so I have to order both. (Luckily she does not like 101 Dalmations) Made an express delivery for the 2 straps from Japan and it states to reach me 3 days later.

Called up Simon and told him that I will be taking that stone together with the setting. He told me that it will take some time to get the settings up and will inform me once it's done.

Gold Heart
Went over to Gold Heart today. Looked around for the specification that I wanted but couldn't find any. As diamond are natural stones, it's hard to get what I wanted - a 0.5DVS1.
My problem starts again. Gold Heart does not have what I want. After the visit, met Darling at Tampines Mall for dinner. Take my chance and ask her if she prefers quality diamonds or branded ones. Tada~ Another way out for me. She chose quality, which means Josi.

Legend...
The stone has arrived. Went down to Josi today for viewing. Indeed, the stone looks beautiful and of course it is huge.
My problems now is whether to take Josi, BR, Gold Heart or Destinee? Find out her ring size since she never had one? Find which brand she likes? Headache..
I have to plan my mission to find out her ring size. My first accomplice, Siteh. She should have a range of rings for her to try though it could be over sized. LOL.. She agreed but as times goes, no action done by her. -_-
Next is Lina. During the CNY gathering at my place, she made her wear her ring and her conclusion is either 6 or 7. ^_^
The problem now goes to the brand of the ring. She definitely does not know what is Josi so now left with BR, Gold Heart and Destinee. Through my sis, she text her on a survey that she is helping her friend on. Most popular Jewellery brand among the options. Now for the final assurance, she chose Gold Heart.

Josi Gems
Boss told me to look out for other choices that may not be mainstream. Such as diamond industry... I have no idea where this place is but many people seems to know the name quite well. His friend recommended me to get from this place called Josi Gems. I decided to take half-day to get my ass down for an eye-opener. I always thought it is has a shop front but when I make my 101 turns in Park Mall, I decided to call Simon.
Simon told me that they do not have a shop front and it is in an office premises. So I took the lift up and the scene looks like the 80's jewelery store. The floor area is comparable to the size of my bedroom, there's this glass cabinet with countless rings in it. I told him my requirement, at least a o.45DVS1. I was then told to wait at home till Belgium gets back to him. Anyway, it's a natural stone so I couldn't rush things out.
The next day, he emailed me saying that there is a 0.49DVS1 available. Of course I'm in for it. Now I am waiting anxiously for the arrival of the legend.

Brilliant Rose vs Destinee vs Gold Heart
The beginning of every successful marriage I believe would be, The Proposal. This is also the start of every man's headache. As such, I am not spared with this.
Other than the Shakespeare's love poems, the highlight of the proposal would of course belong to The Ring. Not featured by Sadako or Frodo Baggins, the search of this perfect ring for her marks the start...
It takes a bit of knowledge to get a good diamond. Being a noob, my first instinct is to look for the world's most well-known 'Wikipedia'. It takes me sometime to digest that piece of long article and I finally understood the basics of choosing a diamond. The 4Cs - Cut, Clarity, Color and Carat.
Soo Kee
Took a half-day leave to search for the perfect diamond. My first stop upon reaching Tampines Mall, I saw Soo Kee outlet standing in front of me. Within seconds in the store, I find myself sitting in front of the Brilliant Rose counter. The sales showed me a 0.31 FVSI, which sets on the 'En Deer' setting. Nice! But I would want to give myself more options. After a while, Fats and Siteh came by and accompany me.

The next stop is the Destinee series. Comparatively to Brilliant Rose, it looks rather classic and cost more. The only advantage I could think about the ring is the name.

We then moved on to the next outlet, Gold Heart. The rings are relatively cheaper there. The 0.31 FVSI BR can get me a 0.51 DVSI in Gold Heart. Of course, I am not comparing apple to apple as BR is a well-marketed premium cut diamond and the Gold Heart one is a normal cut.
As we were looking more into the stores, it appears that Siteh is more excited about those rings and I could see Fats staying away from the counters. LOL.. I was thinking, if I could get the ring from Soo Kee, name using Destinee's and price from Gold Heart, that would be the best. But... In my dreams ba... LOL..
